Gymnastics in Missouri is highly developed and exercised at the highest levels in the world. As a sport, it does not only base on flexibility, agility, coordination, and balance, rather it also calls for physical strength and power to perform the elements consisted in the sport. It takes a lot of exercising to master all skills involved because the slightest miscalculation in a move could result into severe injury.

The sport is of global caliber, being exercised at several world class competitions like the Olympics. In such contests as the Olympics, this sport is regulated by an international authority. All nations on the globe have local bodies that control the standards of the game within their borders. Each of those local authorities have some connection to the international governing authority.

Individuals whose specialty lies in gymnastics are referred to as gymnasts and they might be females or males. Gymnasts begin performing at varied ages. Classes meant for little kids as young 18 months old are there. This category is referred to as kindergym. Other levels comprise of participants of five years, 24 years, and so on. Each class of participation calls for a certain degree of skills and experience with the greatest level being at international games.

Gymnastic comprises of different disciplines, which are performed by world class sportspeople. Some of these disciplines include tumbling, trampolining, team gym, acrobatic, artistic, and aerobic gymnastics. Artistic gymnastic is the most popular, and most practiced category. This category has disciplines for both female and male participants. Individuals of the same gender compete in each group of events. Gymnastic can also be practiced as a recreational event besides being a very competitive sport.

The competitive version of the game can be exercised in both indoor and outdoor environments. The gymnasts perform while the judges, normally sitting at a higher position award marks. The scoring system is based on a score called an execution score. Execution score limits the total number of points one can ever achieve to 10. The judge subtracts points from the 10 points based on how efficient the gymnast is. What remains after the gymnast is through is also their final score.

Currently however, a new way of awarding points referred to as the difficulty score is coming. The score has no restriction to number of points an individual can score. It bases on the degree of difficulty of the elements one does and how effective they are executed. The score bases on whether one finishes all events or fails.

Difficulty score system is presently in use within the United States. It is viewed as a revolution in the sport altogether. This score system has made gymnasts to invest more efforts in executing skills well. They also try to learn how to link skills to each other when performing. Infact properly linked elements when performing can earn the contestant many marks since it is a key field considered during awarding of marks.

Gymnastics in Missouri is taught in training facilities evenly distributed in the area. There are several facilities and legendary gymnasts within the area for one to learn from. Training facilities charge reasonably and teach best events for recreational and competition purposes.
