Some Ideas For A Football Run Through Banner

By Nita McKinney

Before a major football event begins, particularly in some college and high school competitions, it is habitual for a certain team to have a football run through upon entering the field. It is usually the responsibility of cheerleaders and mascots to hold it on both sides while the team is running through it. This is an act to intimidate or surprise the opponent and mostly, the design for it is an important symbol for them.

The mascot or the name of a certain team is often drawn in the banner. It will act as a symbol for them to reveal who they really are. Additional effects might be added by simply having each member sign in it. This will somehow represent a certain sense of pride and will tell the crowd who they are as a team.

An interesting and brilliant idea to be drawn in it would be the brick walls. It would represent a sense of conviction and strength that is crucial for all members to win a certain game. Drawing a couple of blocks may seem so repetitive, but if you put some more details into some dimensions of the block, it will heighten the efficiency and quality of creativity among the crowd.

A motto or quote could also be used to tell a particular sport or field in general. Select a quote that may bring your name. Pick the one that could have a certain effect on the crowd as a whole. Likewise, you may consider making different fonts for the letters with the colors of your represented team.

While making it, know all the essential details that would be written and drawn including the wordings, graphics, logo and motto. A regular sized banner would usually be three meters in its width and about two meters for its height. A larger space would also be needed in creating it. Make sure that you choose the exact width that would accommodate the entry of all the players at once.

Always pick a paper that allows you to use markers and paint. Check whether it would tear off well so that it would not block the athletes that are passing through it. Use two poles and place it in each end so that you could have something to grip in stretching it. Heavy cardboard tubes, PVC and wood are advised and attach it carefully by using heavy duty masking tapes. PVC is widely used by some people because it can be cleaned easily, durable and has a light weight.

In picking the paper that you will be using, make sure to buy many as you can. This will be used in conducting a couple of test runs to ensure that it would tear off properly. If the paper will fail to tear, or maybe the poles may fall into the way of the athletes as they run, it might cause some injuries.

Stretch it across an opening where the team will pass. The good places would be a gate or the entrance of the place where the game will be held. It should be held firmly to prevent its poles from being pulled inwards as the paper tears.

Do not use a long strip of tape along the width of your football run through banner because players might not be able to go into it. Also, leave some slits or flaps where wind can blow onto it or else, it will look like a parachute when you unfurl it on a windy ground.
