The Playground Games That Children Love To Play

By Enid Hinton

Playing in the playground teaches children many lessons about life from learning how to cooperate to learning how to have fun with others. Of course it is the responsibility of the teacher to make sure that he makes the playground games suitable for all the students. For those who are new at this kind of thing, here are some activities that one can try out.

Now tag is probably one of the most popular of all games because it is the easiest one to facilitate. Now in tag, there is one person who is the it and will try to chase other people in the game so that he can make another person the it. It is a game that is both fun and strenuous for children and will also teach them how to coordinate with others.

A classic game would be tug of war and it is actually quite a simple game that would teach a lot of principles in life. Basically, the class would be split into two teams and each team has to pull the rope to their side in order to beat the other team. This would teach the kids that no matter how strong one is, nothing can beat a team working together.

Now yet another fun and tiring game would be piggy in the middle or monkey in the middle. Now there are two teams on the right and left side of the field that are trying to hit a guy in the middle. The guy in the middle is supposed to avoid being hit by a ball that the two teams would be throwing at him otherwise he will be out.

Now claim the flag is a very fun game that would not only teach teamwork but strategy as well. Now the class will first form two teams with each team having their own team flag. The objective of the game is for one team to get the flag of the other team and not to get tagged by any opposing team member otherwise they will be sent to jail.

Now croquet is one fun game that does not require much running and is good for the less sporty children. Basically, two or probably more players have to hit balls of different colors into some hoops with a croquet stick. This is a game that can actually teach tactical ability.

Now another game that is a little bit more strenuous and is more for the older kids would be the famous dodgeball. Dodgeball is a game wherein a group of people are split into two teams and there are a number of balls that are put in the middle of them. The objective is to grab as many balls as possible and hit the opposing players until there are none left.

Now if one is a teacher, he can actually try out some of these games. Now it is also extremely important for the teacher to let the students know why these games are being played in the first place. Teaching the life lessons behind the activities is probably the most important part.
