Shoulder Pain Relief Provided By Chiropractic In Singapore

By Fernando Ketter

Shoulder pain and/or restricted movement in the shoulder joint is extremely common and can be a considerable source of disability. A 1998 US study estimated that between sixteen and twenty-six percent of adults suffer with some form of shoulder pain. A Singapore chiropractor can provide safe, natural ways to relieve this kind of pain and help sufferers avoid having to use pain killers.

Unfortunately, one the shoulder joint's key characteristics - its flexibility - is also its main weakness. Its superior range of motion results in an increased vulnerability to injury. The sedentary lifestyle lead by many people today, along with bad postural habits tend to play on this weakness.

One of the most common shoulder conditions seen by chiropractors is frozen shoulder (inflammation of the shoulder joint). Rotator cuff problems (relating to the muscles and tendons of the shoulder) are also extremely common. Impingement syndrome (where the tendon that attaches the shoulder blade to the arm catches in the joint) is another frequently seen issue.

Fortunately, these and other issues can be alleviated given the right kind of care. The exact interventions used will vary based on the needs of the individual patient. Whatever techniques are used, chiropractic care always aims to get to the underlying cause of the problem.

As far as joint issues are concerned, gentle manipulation procedures can unlock joints and restore their range of motion. Pent-up tension in muscles and tendons can be released using massage, heat applications, ultrasound and other techniques. When tension is released and range of movement is restored, pain can be considerably reduced.

The amount of time needed to affect a permanent reduction in pain will vary from patient to patient. Many can expect significant relief within the space of three visits. That said, patients should be aware that some issues will require more attention before results are seen.
