Go Riding In Style And Comfort With Zara Phillips Clothing

By Alyce Powell

Many people associate the upper classes of Britain with horses. Riding is indeed something that most members of the aristocracy enjoy. Unfortunately, the idea of a female equestrian doesn't conjure up images of a leader in the fashion stakes. It doesn't have to be this way, luckily. Zara Phillips clothing, for one, bring a sense of style to horsemanship without compromising on comfort.

Zara Phillips is a true British blue-blood. Her mother is Princess Anne, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Because her father, Captain Mark Phillips, does not own a title, neither does Zara or her brother Peter. This doesn't mean that they're just like anyone else, though, even if their parents tried to raise them to have their feet planted firmly on the ground. After all, it was her uncle, Prince Charles, who chose her first name and a visit to Granny meant going to Buckingham Palace.

As she grew up, Princess Anne's daughter quickly showed that she was highly gifted. She did exceptionally well in school and was also great at sports. A rebellious phase made her a tabloid favorite but the qualified physiotherapist has since settled down with Mike Tindall, an English rugby player. They're currently expecting a child.

Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips shared a love of horse-riding. Princess Anne even represented Britain at the Olympic Games, in horse-riding events at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. The princess and Captain Phillips' daughter followed in their equestrian footsteps and became an accomplished rider in her own right. When she won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics in London, it was her mother who presented her with her medal.

In the past, Zara wasn't usually admired for her fashion sense. Like her mother, she didn't really care for dressing up and her choices of outfit at times made her the target for very nasty comments by the tabloids. However, in recent years she's had style watchers speechless in awe at the gorgeous ensembles, fit for a princess, that she would put together.

In 2010, the talented royal decided to add to her accomplishments. She's now a clothes designer too. Her range does not include the frilly dresses one would associate with royalty but instead is aimed at equestrians.

The team number that Zara was given when she first qualified to represent the United Kingdom at international equestrian events has inspired the name for her range. It is called ZP176 and wearing pieces from the line might bring you luck, since the designer was world champion for a while. Because she knows what works for riders, her clothes are practical and comfortable but still stylish. The range includes jackets, riding t-shirts, socks, headbands, caps, chaps and neck tubes.

Zara Phillips clothing is available through Musto Outdoor Clothing. The company's ranges, including ZP176, are available online. They deliver mainly to destinations in the UK and continental Europe but next time you're in England, you can also pop into one of their stores to get your very own bit of royal luxury.
